16 The Tower

Description

A Tower struck by lightning and collapsing, toppling the Eye-in-the-Triangle from its summit.  The Eye-in-the-Triangle in mediaeval art was used to symbolise God (the all seeing trinity) and is used so here.

Written on the card is: "And Gawd said to hir multiple personality disorders, "Hey! Those bastards down there can communicate properly! That mite be a threat. [A minor threat] Yes, but still, can't let them Babylon..." This is a humorous interpretation of the story of the Tower of Babel, where God causes discord amongst humanity by making them speak different tongues, and hence prevents them constructing a tower which will reach to heaven.  'Gawd' is used to emphasise the ludicrous nature of this story; hir is used as a non gender specific pronoun (which I consider most important when referring to God) and 'mite' is deliberately misspelled to reinforce how tiny people are by comparison.  God's mulitple personality disorders are, basically, every living creature, based on the idea that we are all, in some way, part of the infinite.  That's just another thing that makes this whole story so silly.

The card is attributed to the Hebrew letter 'Pé' which means 'mouth' and has a numerical value of 80, or 800 in final form.  The card is also attributed to Mars.
